During the war time, the Zhejiang Provincial Government founded the university in November 1938, and formally opened it to the public in Feb 1939. 1939-1943, it was a Zhejiang provincial public university (省立英士大學). 1943, it was promoted to the status of ''National'', namely ''National Yingshi University'' (國立英士大學), until its dissociation in 1949.〔Zhejiang Archive (浙江档案网): (英士大学 (Archive of Yingshi University) )〕 August 1949, during the Chinese Civil War, the Jinhua Civic Military Control Committee (金華市軍管會/金华市军管会) controlled the university and further dissociated it.
